Greetings FLVMX Riders and Fans,
The Inaugural C&B(Crash & Burn) South Grand Prix race was a HUGE success ! Despite the rain that started early, there was a impressive turn-out. There were about 20-25 people in total, with around 15 riders and 11 hardcore motocrossers racing for the wood.
The track was perfectly groomed and watered, then the skies parted and the sun came out for just enough time to get one full moto in. The rest of the afternoon was spent hanging out with great people and excellent food (and adult beverages). The podium from the Vintage class went like this...1st-Don Ram Baham...2nd-our Host Carl Mabrey...3rd-Scotty Rat Sappington(on an Elsinore?). The Modern class was...1st-Superman Dave Berger...2nd- Photomoto Mark Smith (in my first race in 14 yrs)...3rd-Missing in Action Mike Brown.
I would personally like to thank Carl and Carol Mabrey for all the work they invested so everyone could just spend a wonderful day doing what we LOVE, and meeting some new friends. The ideas are in the works for the 2nd Annual C&B Grand Prix (that sounds cool, doesn't it?) Thanks also to Bill Davis for helping with the awards. Everyone got one and loved them !
Enjoy the summer break and I hope to see everyone at the banquet @ Woody's place on September 26th.
If you don't see yourself in the "Best Of " gallery, don't worry, I usually average 10-30 great shots of each and every rider. Although I will still post a "Best of" gallery with enhanced photos after each race, individual galleries are now posted raw and un-retouched. By doing this, you get to see them on-line sooner and you have the option of purchasing them raw or retrouched. You can also purchase re-sized, low resolution images, perfect for email, Facebook, Myspace, etc. at a very reasonable price!
There are great photos of everyone, so if you would like to see all of your images, follow these easy steps:
If you want to see the photos that I captured of you (or someone you know) at any recent or past FLVMX race, simply go to menu, contact, and send me your name, bike #, and TYPE OF BIKE, and I will create a personal gallery for you with all the images I have.
You may wonder how I came to do motocross photography. My motocross experience started at the age of 13 in 1972 and ended 12 years ago when my knee and my wallet just couldn't handle the stress anymore! Photographing my favorite sport is as close as I'll get to riding again and it seems to help promote it. As a former motocrosser, and now a photographer, I can tell you that I cherish the few photos I have of my racing days and I am sure years from now my Granddaughter will be eternally grateful for preserving a part of my life's greatest moments for her that she can pass down to her family.
Like any photographer, my goal is to make awesome photographs. My hope is that my dedication to the sport of motocross comes through in my photography and enables you the opportunity to share some of your life's priceless moments with your family.
Enjoy Life !
Mark
